This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for demand surface supplied and demand surface oriented diving apparatus to ensure a minimum level of safe operation of the apparatus. It applies to the following: depths between 0 m and 50 m for apparatus using air, oxygen or oxygen in nitrogen mixtures; depths between 0 m and 60 m for apparatus using oxygen, oxygen and helium or oxygen, nitrogen and helium gas mixtures; water temperatures between 4 ℃ and 34 ℃ or outside these temperatures as specified by the manufacturer. The requirements of this European Standard are intended to take account of the interaction between the wearer, the apparatus, and where possible the environment in which the apparatus is likely to be used. This European Standard does not cover saturation diving systems, mini bell systems or apparatus used for oxygen decompression only.
This Technical Report establishes the ergonomic principles to be followed during the design process of mobile machinery with special emphasis on the aspects in which mobile machinery differs from static machinery. The ergonomic design principles given in this Technical Report apply to either or both seated and standing positions. This Technical Report is applicable for the design of mobile (self-propelled and towable) machines in order to ensure the ergonomic requirements for the operator. This Technical Report applies only to driving and operating mobile machinery and not to performing other tasks (e. g. sorters on a potato harvesting machine). Pedestrian controlled and handheld machinery are not included. This Technical Report also applies to vehicle-mounted machinery when observing their functional properties e. g. mobile cranes. Installing, cleaning, and repairing of mobile machinery is not included. Basic concepts and general ergonomic principles for the design of machinery are dealt with in prEN ISO 12100 and EN 614-1 and EN 614-2.
This document has been produced by the convenors of CEN/TC158 working groups. It is intended to serve as a guide, to be consulted when drafting new EN standards for head protection and when revising or amending existing ones. Whilst implementation of its contents is not mandatory, working groups are urged not to make deviations from this guidance document without good cause. This is a living document - omissions will be covered in later issues. In this document, reference is made to CEN/TR 16148, Head and neck impact, burn and noise injury criteria - A Guide for CEN helmet standards committees. This gives further guidance about the areas of the head which helmet standards should aim to protect, and about head and neck injuries. The working group should assess the foreseeable risks against which the helmet should provide protection. Each of the helmet standards should provide for a helmet, which will offer optimum protection to the head against these foreseeable risks and should satisfy the Basic Health and Safety Requirements of EU Directive 89/686/EEC to the extent indicated in Annex ZA of the helmet standard. Helmet standards should indicate, in an informative annex, how the level of performance requirements specified relates to the severity of injury to be tolerated. Working groups should refer to CEN/TR 16148 when drafting this annex. Reference is also made to EN 13087 (all parts), Protective helmets - Test methods. This standard provides harmonized methods of test for many of the topics listed below. The various parts of EN 13087 are listed in the Bibliography.
This International Standard defines the basic terminology and specifies the methodology and principles for risk assessment and risk reduction to help designers in achieving safety in the design of machinery.
This part of BS 6465 gives recommendations on the location, numbers, siting, design and management of public toilets. It is applicable to theprovision of new facilities and to the retention and refurbishment ofexisting facilities. This standard is applicable to the following types of public toilet facilities:a) municipal public on-street toilets;b) off-street publicly available toilets (e.g. in shopping malls);c) automatic public conveniences (APCs);d) street urinals;e) facilities for disabled people, from the point of view of scale ofprovision and location;f) baby changing and ancillary toilet facilities.
This part of BS 7121 gives recommendations for the safe use of lorryloaders. Subjects covered include management, selection of equipment, selection and training of personnel, procedures and precautions, testing, inspection, maintenance and examination. This part of BS 7121 is intended to be used in conjunction withBS 7121-2, which provides general guidance on the inspection, testingand examination of all types of cranes.
This part 2 of EN 14175 specifies safety and performance requirements and objectives for general purpose fume cupboards. In addition, dimensions and marking of general purpose fume cupboards are specified as well as requirements on the product manual to be supplied with fume cupboards.\nRecommendations on the evaluation of conformity of general purpose fume cupboards with the requirements of this part 2 of EN 14175 are given in the informative annex A.\nFor terms and definitions of fume cupboards EN 14175-1 applies. For type testing of fume cupboards prEN 14175-3 applies. For microbiological safety cabinets EN 12469 applies.\nThis part of EN 14175 does not address recirculatory filtration fume cupboards or fume cupboards for carrying out work on radioactive materials. For special purpose fume cupboards other requirements may apply.
