The objective of this Recommendation is to provide guidance for the identification of suitable frequency spectrum for terrestrial fixed wireless access (FWA) applications, taking due account of sharing issues. Both traditional wireless telephony applications as well as emerging broadband wireless applications are considered.

Increasing requirements in the HF fixed and mobile services are driven by two factors. Firstly, other technologies do not meet all requirements. This is especially true in publicprotection and disaster relief operations. Ease of deployment and comparatively lower costs continue to make HF fixed and mobile applications desirable duringthe development of a crisis situation. The second factor is the emergence of HF advanced technologies which allow development of applications to exchange more information at higher data rates.
This Report provides useful information for administrations to consider when processing spectrum selection for the future development of IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced in preparation for WRC-07. The selection process for candidate bands must consider compatibility, coordination and sharing with other primary services. To aid this process, the ITU-R evaluated suitable frequency ranges to fulfil the vision for the future development of IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced.
The passive radio astronomy service (RAS) is studying natural phenomena producing radio emissions at frequencies fixed by the laws of nature. Primary allocations have been made to various space services in the Earth-to-space direction such as the fixed-satellite service (FSS), radionavigation-satellite service (RNSS), mobile-satellite service (MSS) and broadcasting-satellite service (BSS) in bands adjacent or nearby to bands allocated to the RAS.
This Recommendation describes the digital selective-calling (DSC) system for use in the maritime mobile service covering general purpose and simplified versions of DSC equipment. A description of a generalized user interface as well as an automated procedure for the operation of shipborne equipment are also included.
This Report presents an overview of Inspections Procedures in response to Question ITU-R 225/1 regarding inspection techniques and procedures. The Question relates to how administrations proceed in planning and conducting radio station inspections. The purpose of this Report is to provide general guidelines for planning and performing inspection activities on various types of radio stations. Inspection activities often include review and verification of both technical and administrative conditions assigned to a radio station or other spectrum user. Although the term “l(fā)icensed” is used throughout the document, this term can be considered here to include not only stations with licences issued by the regulatory authority, but also other authorized spectrum users (such as those operating with “l(fā)icence exempt” devices like low-power radios and RF devices operating under equipment standards approval). The primary focus of this report is to consider inspections that are conducted “on-site”, by visiting the transmitter location. Included in Annexes are some specific examples in certain services, toprovide examples of howthe general guidelines can be applied. This Report should be considered a general guidance document for inspections planning.
